"Summer" is a fine condition .Ignaz Marcel Gaugengigl was born in Passau in Bavaria, his artistic career was to be in America, where he immigrated in 1878 after completing his studies in Munich, settling in Boston. Gaugengigl soon came under the influence of Sylvester Rose Koehler, curator of prints at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and editor of the American Art Review, who encouraged the young artist to take up etching, commissioning his first plate, Summer, for the American Art Review in 1880.
