Raul Dufy L' Ecrevisse' Le Bestiaire WoodcutOne of a collection of later and unsigned works of Raul Dufy created for Le Bestiaire ou Cortège d'Orphée . These are a later edition published by .The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1977. edition with text (English) on verso , printed on nice vellum finish smooth paper . Each sheet measures approximate 9.5 by 13 inches with the average image size 7.5 by 8 inches with text on front and less text on verso with uneven margins other wise in good condition . The woodcuts designs executed by Raoul Dufy and engraved under the artist supervision to illustrate Apollinaire Cortège d'Orphée . "Le Bestiaire was Dufy first major venture as an illustrator. Picasso had originally suggested the project to Apollinaire in 1906, but the latter turned to Dufy when Picasso abandoned the scheme. Raoul Dufy 1877 – 1953) was a French Fauvist painter. He developed a colorful, decorative style that became fashionable for designs of ceramics and textiles, as well as decorative schemes for public buildings. He is noted for scenes of open-air social events.Woodcuts do not have margins, please know what your buying.
