It is signed in the plate in the upper left corner by the artist and is in good condition measuring 7 3/8 X 4 3/4 inches.Ignaz Marcel Gaugengigl: An accomplished nineteenth century etcher and painter of figure studies and genre scenes, Ignaz Marcel Gaugengigl studied art at the Academy of Munich under William Diez (1878). Ignaz Marcel Gaugengigl moved to Boston in 1880 and immediately established a reputation for his etchings and paintings. His meticulous attention to costumes and detailing of his figures earned him the name, "the Messonier of Boston'.
